Heroines of Our Time

Actresses, business leaders, scientists, activists: portraits of women shaping our time.

Who we are

Heroines of Our Time tells the stories of women: actresses and directors, business leaders, scientists, athletes, activists, and all those who shaped history without always getting the credit.

Portraits, interviews, news and podcasts are published here in English and French.

The site is published by the Adama Toulon association, founded on September 24, 2012. From 2013 to 2018, it organized New Technology and Science Fiction fairs in support of Sanctuary for Kids, the charity founded by Amanda Tapping. It then turned its focus to the place of women in civil society.

In 2017, together with Femmes Chefs d'Entreprises France (Women Business Owners France), it co-organized the "FCE AERO AWARDS", honouring outstanding women in aeronautics at the Paris-Le Bourget International Air and Space Show. From 2019 to 2023, its online "World Women Heroes Awards" – "Les Trophées des Héroïnes" honoured women in film and television, with winners chosen by public vote.

World Women Heroes Awards | Les Trophées des Héroïnes

The Adama Toulon organization is pleased to present the World Women Heroes Awards – Les Trophées des Héroïnes, which aim to honour women in the world of film and television, as well as the TV series heroines they portray.

The public votes for their favourite actress in each of the proposed categories. The first categories group series by genre: Action/Crime, Drama, Fantasy, Comedy and Science Fiction.

Two other special categories:
– The "Femina Series & Mini Series" category rewards the series or mini-series that put women in the spotlight.
– The "Coup de Cœur" category rewards women — actresses, directors and screenwriters — whose commitment and career have left their mark on the public and on the world of film and television.

Four actresses are nominated in each category.
