Avec son rire inimitable et sa voix nasale devenue légendaire, Fran Drescher a créé dans Une Nounou d'Enfer (The Nanny), qu'elle a aussi co-créée et produite, l'un des personnages les plus aimés de la sitcom : Fran Fine, nounou du Queens chez un producteur de Broadway, héroïne populaire qui ringardisait les préjugés de classe.
Survivante d'un cancer de l'utérus, elle fonde l'association Cancer Schmancer pour la détection précoce. Élue présidente du syndicat SAG-AFTRA, elle mène en 2023 la grève historique des acteurs d'Hollywood face aux studios et à la menace de l'intelligence artificielle — son discours de combat fait le tour du monde.
La même année, les fans lui décernent par leur vote en ligne le trophée « Comédie » des World Women Heroes Awards — à la reine de la sitcom devenue porte-voix de toute une profession.
From the Nanny to the head of the actors' union
With her inimitable laugh and legendary nasal voice, Fran Drescher created in The Nanny — which she also co-created and produced — one of sitcom history's most beloved characters: Fran Fine, a nanny from Queens in a Broadway producer's home, a working-class heroine who made class prejudice look ridiculous.
A uterine cancer survivor, she founded the Cancer Schmancer Movement for early detection. Elected president of SAG-AFTRA, she led Hollywood actors' historic 2023 strike against the studios and the threat of artificial intelligence — her fighting speech travelled around the world.
That same year, fans voting online awarded her the “Comedy” trophy of the World Women Heroes Awards — to the queen of the sitcom turned voice of an entire profession.
