Fantastique / Fantastic
A witch on screen, an activist in life
A child star of Who's the Boss?, Alyssa Milano became a fantasy television icon with Charmed: for eight seasons, her Phoebe Halliwell, the youngest of San Francisco's witch sisters, embodied with her elders a magical sisterhood that marked an entire generation.
But it is off screen that she changed the world: on 15 October 2017, her tweet inviting victims of harassment to reply “me too” — echoing the phrase coined by Tarana Burke — unleashed a worldwide wave. A tireless activist, she has fought for years for women's rights, healthcare and voter participation.
In 2023, fans around the world, voting online, awarded her the “Fantastic” trophy of the World Women Heroes Awards — to the witch whose real power was setting speech free.
